CSV Format & Column Structure. Four ordered columns to map your destinations, aliases, titles, and descriptions.

Column Position Rule: When creating the CSV file, you need to keep the header row, but the column names can be anything as long as their position is respected:longurl (Col 1) → alias (Col 2) → title (Col 3) → description (Col 4)
Column 1Required

longurl

The full destination web address you want to shorten. Must include the protocol (https:// or http://). Supports deep links, UTM tracking parameters, and query strings.

Example:https://google.com
Column 2Optional

alias

Your desired custom short slug (e.g. 'google' results in recut.in/google). If omitted or if the alias is already taken by another user, Recut automatically generates a unique random alias.

Example:google
Column 3Optional

title

A recognizable title for your link. Used inside your Recut dashboard for search, organization, and social preview cards.

Example:Google
Column 4Optional

description

Campaign notes, internal tags, or a brief explanation of the destination link for your team members.

Example:Google search engine

Important Migration Rules. Key specifications regarding file size limits, deduplication, and background queues.

2 GB Limit

Max 2048 MB File Size

Your CSV file cannot be bigger than 2048 MB. This generous quota lets you migrate hundreds of thousands of links in a single file upload.

Async Queue

Background Processing for >100 Links

If your file contains more than 100 links, they are processed asynchronously in the background so your browser never freezes or times out.

Zero Duplicates

Automatic Deduplication

Duplicate links within the same upload file are automatically detected and ignored to keep your link dashboard clean.

Auto Fallback

Smart Alias Conflict Fallback

If a specified custom alias is already taken by another link, Recut automatically generates a clean random alias so your import never fails.

Links Only

Link Structure Only (No Past Stats)

This tool imports links, destinations, titles, and descriptions. It does not import historical click analytics or past visitor logs from external software.

Position Based

Header Row Position Matters

You must keep a header row in your CSV. Column header names can be anything as long as the 4 column positions (longurl, alias, title, description) are respected.

How to Import in 4 Simple Steps. A straightforward path from raw links to active Recut short URLs.

Frequently Asked Questions. Everything you need to know about CSV link import, batch files, and queues.

What is the required CSV structure for importing links?

The CSV must contain 4 positional columns: Column 1 is longurl (required destination URL), Column 2 is alias (optional short slug), Column 3 is title (optional link title), and Column 4 is description (optional notes). You must include a header row, although the header names themselves can be customized as long as the positional order is preserved.

What happens if a custom alias is already taken?

If a custom alias in your CSV file is already in use by another link, the Recut importer does not fail the row. Instead, it automatically generates a unique random alias for that link so your entire import batch succeeds without interruption.

Does the importer migrate past click statistics and historical analytics?

No. This tool imports links, destinations, aliases, titles, and descriptions. It does not import historical click logs or third-party analytics data from external tools. Once imported, Recut will track all new clicks in real time with comprehensive analytics.

What is the maximum CSV file size allowed?

CSV files can be up to 2048 MB (2 GB) in size. This generous limit allows enterprise marketing teams to migrate hundreds of thousands of links in a single operation.

How does background processing work for large files?

If your import file contains more than 100 links, Recut automatically queues the file for background processing. Your links are provisioned asynchronously so you do not have to keep your browser tab open while the migration completes.

How does Recut handle duplicate links in the CSV?

Duplicate destination links within the same CSV file are automatically detected and ignored. This prevents accidental duplicate short links from cluttering your dashboard.
